Accelerated Analysis’ several liquid crystals are selected for hot spot detection. Featured liquid crystals have clearing points at 29, 83, and 100 degrees Celsius. Each liquid crystal is available as a pure liquid crystal or combined with a low viscosity solvent ready for application. Pure liquid crystals (K18, LC83, and LC100) are supplied in 1 mL quantity in a single glass vial. The alternate and recommended form of liquid crystals (K18R, LC83R, and LC100R) are supplied in 11mL quantity divided into two vials. The low viscosity solutions produce a very thin film of liquid crystal which is optimum for maximum sensitivity. Both pure and solution forms contain the same amount of liquid crystal (1mL). A fine artist’s brush is supplied with all liquid crystal sets for easy and safe application. |

| Polarizers | |
| Effective viewing of liquid crystal hot spots requires a metallurgical type
microscope commonly associated with most analytical probe stations.
The microscope must be equipped with a polarizer filter set.
Above its clearing point, a film of liquid crystal observed
through crossed polarizers is dark. Below its clearing point, liquid crystal films appear bright and
colorful. Therefore a
“hot spot” in a semiconductor appears as a unique dark spot which
locates the heat dissipation. Accelerated Analysis has polarizer sets for most commonly used probe station microscopes. BLPOL is designed to fit the Leica (formerly Bausch and Lomb) MicroZoom. Filter sets are also available Mitutoyo FS60 (MTFS60) and Mitutoyo FS70 (MTFA70) series microscopes. Custom filter sets are available for other microscopes. |

| Dropping Bottle |
|
| Applying liquid crystal solution involves opening
the vial, dipping the brush, replacing the vial cover and touching the
brush to the sample. The
process is easy enough, but the wide based dropping bottle makes the
process easier. The dropping bottle (KMDB) has 15 mL capacity.
